More detail about the role: The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, on behalf of South West Peninsular Pathology Network are delighted to be recruiting a Pathology Network Education Trainer to support pathology training within the Trust and across the South West Peninsular Pathology Network. This is a brand-new post, supporting the commitment by Health Education England and NHS England to developing a sustainable pathology workforce across the Southwest Region. We are looking for someone who is committed, self-motivated, and has a passion for training, with a solid understanding and experience of working in a laboratory at either Specialist or Senior Biomedical Scientist level.

We are looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we enable our staff to provide our services. You will play a leading part in the training of all placement students, Level 2, 4 and 6 Apprentices leading to Registration Portfolio within the Trust, as well as collaborating with other Pathology Network Education Trainers within the South West Peninsular Pathology Network to support training Specialist Portfolio candidates. You will also work closely with South West Peninsular Pathology Network workforce lead and Regional Pathology Workforce Education Leads. This will include managing the competency records, departmental training documents and demonstrating and promoting the increased training offer within your laboratory and across the Network.

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a high performing Trust based across Royal Devon and Exeter, incorporating North Devon District Hospital and provides services for local people within East and North Devon. In addition, delivering a wide range of emergency, specialist and general medical services through North Devon District Hospital (EX31 4JB) and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) (EX2 5DW). Alongside our two acute hospitals, we provide integrated health and social care services across a variety of settings including community inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, and within peoples own homes. We also offer primary care services, a range of specialist community services, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC).

As this post is funded via the South West Peninsular Pathology Network you will be required to work across-sites, within the Network as dictated by service needs to support training across the Network. All departments across the Network have or are seeking IBMS training approval, are ISO 15189:2012 accredited and encourage professional development. There is flexibility for the post holder to be based at North Devon District Hospital or The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital travelling to other hospitals within the Region as and when is required.
