The Department of Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Research Technician.
You will provide high quality technical support to staff and students within the Department and will be based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
The Department of Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease (IICD) brings together research strengths in inflammation, medical and biomedical imaging, discovery science, experimental model systems and cardiopulmonary medicine.
The Department is actively building a strong forward looking and sustainable strategy with the aspiration to have sustainable, internationally excellent teaching and research in our research themes; 1) Imaging, 2) Immunity and Infection, 3) Cardiovascular Disease.

The technical role is mostly based within the Sheffield Dermatology Research Group, with additional support provided to the Department’s Core Technical Support Team where feasible. The Dermatology Research group, which is based within the Department of Infection, Immunity & Cardiovascular Disease, is an internationally recognised leader in dermatology research, with a focus on dry skin conditions such as atopic eczema. As a member of this group you will assist senior researchers and postgraduate students in the conduct of human skin research. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, with experience of responding efficiently and effectively to enquiries whilst maintaining confidentiality. Knowledge of working under Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines is desirable. As a member of the Core Technical Support Team you will be responsible for supporting departmental laboratory-based activities, contributing to the department's objectives and priorities. More specifically you will provide general support to the molecular biology, cell culture and clinical trial hubs, so previous experience in these areas will be particularly advantageous. Alternatively, we are also interested in candidates with a background in medical physics and computer programming, to support our Mathematical Modelling in Medicine research group.
