About CDP’s Data and Insight teams:

The Data and Insight Team’s primary remit is to improve the usability of the climate change, water, forests, and cities data disclosed to CDP through robust and transparent methods. The teams create sustainable data pipelines for data quality monitoring, data cleaning, reporting and data science modelling. Harmonised data collected from external sources will enrich the data assets’ value and enhance accessibility for CDP’s stakeholders. The teams produce value-adding insight delivering it through data products that help internal and external stakeholders to better understand the quantitative and qualitative results of their actions. This in turn helps stakeholders to make data-led decisions and optimise for all constraints. Through every stage the data assets are governed by the industry practice standards in a robust and transparent manner.

Job Purpose and Background

Are you passionate about using data to drive change? Do you have excellent data analysis skills alongside the ability and desire to work with users of data and to communicate well?

CDP’s Data Analytics Team are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic, and ambitious Junior Data Analyst who is passionate to use data to drive companies, investors, and governments to build a thriving economy which works for people and planet.

The Data Analytics team works to improve the usability of the data disclosed to CDP. The team develop and apply robust and transparent methods for data cleaning and modelling.

You will work to deliver and develop high-value impactful analytics and insight. These analytics will secure reliable revenue streams for CDP whilst catalysing the reallocation of investor capital for the green global economic transition. You will be able grow your knowledge and experience, support CDP at the forefront of Analytics and insight research for the economic transition to a well-below 2°C future.

You will work on delivering vital data products, such as the Full Corporate GHG Emissions dataset. Supporting on dataset delivery, report creation, data visualization, analytical projects, and other data product deliveries. A data analytical all-rounder with drive and enthusiasm to get stuck into a multitude of delivery areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering data product projects across CDP and other stakeholders.
  • Delivering analytics and insight for CDP and other stakeholders.
  • Support colleagues, external partners, and other data consumers in the use of our data, data products and make better decisions from them.
  • Data requirement gathering and data testing for key tools

Required/desired skills and experience:

  • At least 1 year of data analysis experience using R/Python using relevant functions e.g. (Pandas, Beautiful soup, Scrapy, Tidyverse, Tidy web scraping, rvest)
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Applied data cleaning and data wrangling skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong numeracy and statistical skills.

Additional things we would be happy to see:

  • An understanding of GHG accounting methods and ESG data.
  • Familiarity with GitHub or other code repository/version control tools.
  • Data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • An awareness of environmental issues, particularly as they relate to our core themes of Climate Change, Deforestation and Water Security.
  • Knowledge of the financial system and capital markets.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at CDP’s London office as part of the Data Analytics team.

Salary and benefits: £30,000 – 32,000 per annum. 30 days holiday excluding bank holidays. Generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Program, life assurance, Training and development, Flexible working opportunities and others.
