Job Description

A vacancy has arisen within the small, friendly team of biomedical scientists at the specialist Histopathology Department at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, which is a part of Cellular Pathology at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, histology experienced HCPC registered biomedical scientist with the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Histopathology.

Whilst the core hours of the department are 08:00 - 17:00 , there are flexible working opportunities available.

As a specialist biomedical scientist involved in all aspects of the histopathology laboratory technical work as well as supervising and training staff, performing quality control, trouble shooting, and performing specialist techniques.

Scientific and Clinical Responsibilities

Analytical and Interpretative Responsibilities• Exercises individual skills through the observation and interpretation of clinical material or data, which may include therapeutic drug monitoring.
Role Responsibilities• Practices in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal codes of the Health Professions Council and the Trust’s protocols and guidelines. Is accountable for own practice and maintenance of Registration status.
Teaching, Training and Research Responsibilities• Participates in the supervision and training of Trainee BMSs, support staff and clinical staff where required.
Other Responsibilities• Demonstrates specialist skill and professional knowledge acquired through post -registration academic and scientific development.
