Job Description
We are currently on the hunt for a Licensed Animal Technician who has proven experience using a Personal Home Office License for Animals. You will be expected to use your license in this role or have previously held and used it in the past.
Responsibilities
Providing exceptional care to the animals, carrying out animal husbandry and performing some technical procedures including:
§ Provision of adequate fresh food and water
§ You will also be required to perform technical procedures
§ Provision of environmental enrichment
§ Carrying out daily tasks which include temperature monitoring, animal checks and general housekeeping within the department
§ Ensuring that all animal husbandry and procedural records/data are up to date and accurate
§ Performing tasks in accordance with company work instructions and procedures
§ Providing weekend and bank holiday cover to ensure the animals are cared for 365 days per year
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
§ Natural empathy for animals
§ Hold or have previously held Home Office Licence modules 1-3
§ The ability to learn and the capability to further develop your skills in animal husbandry, and care
§ Experience with oncology laboratory animal models is advantageous
§ Experienced with In Vivo work
§ Knowledge and understanding of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
§ GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications A*-C (4+) in Maths, Science and English or an Animal Care or Animal Management Qualification at Level 2 or higher
§ IT skills of a good standard
§ Strong attention to detail
