The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patients presenting with issues related to illicit drug use and/or alcohol care needs and development, devising, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients as the named care provider and in supporting the care of all patients.
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of the client group: drug & alcohol users, this includes those with increasing risk, those who are experiencing harm as well as those who are dependent. They will provide hospital to home detoxification, and also work across the hospital offering advice, treatment, management and discharge outcomes for dependent drinkers and drug users.
They will monitor and improve standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will actively contribute to the clinical governance processes within the service. The post holder will support the work of the Trustwide Alcohol Steering Group to improve care and reduce drug & alcohol related harm. .

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and friendly existing team and to support them in the development of services for patients presenting with drug & alcohol related issues. The team are based in the Urgent Care Centre at Rochdale Infirmary and work with patients that present across all wards and departments both at Rochdale Infirmary and other Care Organisations across the NCA. The role is varied and interesting with multiagency working, outreach work and opportunities to shape future service development and delivery mechanisms.
