You will drive cutting-edge research in one of the following areas, often intersecting with other areas:
-
Fiber communication and free-space optics (e.g., optical microscopy and imaging, micro-optics, diffractive optics).
-
Silicon and III-V integrated photonics design and packaging.
-
Stimulated emission depletion (STED)- like microscopy techniques and luminescent materials for diffraction unlimited optical data storage.
-
Optical sensing, metrology and optical spectroscopy.
-
You will collaborate with members of our multidisciplinary research group to contribute to project objectives.
-
You will adopt a growth mindset attitude and be prepared to work within a rapidly changing research environment, while taking a rigorous and systematic approach to design and experimentation.

You will envisage, architect, explore new designs and take a hands-on approach to creating research prototypes.

You will share your findings with the broader team, product groups and publish in high-impact conferences and journals.
Required Qualifications:
-
PhD degree (or on-track to complete) in one of the following fields: Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials, Chemistry, Metrology, or equivalent experience.

Impact driven mindset and ability to work and learn in a collaborative environment.
-
Track record in relevant research as evidenced by publications in top-tier venues.
-
Committed nature with effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications (one or more of the following):
- Hands-on experience with optical lab devices (e.g., lasers, lens assemblies, microscopes, oscilloscopes, detectors, lock-in amplifiers, etc).

Ability to automate lab measurements, scripting knowledge in Python/MATLAB, and some rudiments of statistical analysis.
-
Experience with optical simulation packages (e.g., Zemax, Lumerical, Comsol, etc).
-
Experience with mechanical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
-
Experience with electro-optical device characterization and fiber optics experiments.
-
Experience with photonic and semiconductor device physics, design, and simulation.
-
Experience in optical microscopy and imaging, micro-optics, and diffractive optics.
-
Experience with optical spectroscopy techniques (e.g., CRDS, TDLS, WMS).
-
Deep understanding of the stimulated emission depletion (STED)- like microscopy techniques and the curiosity to discover how they might impact optical data storage.
-
Chemistry or materials science knowledge to identify candidate luminescent materials for diffraction unlimited optical data storage – and the knowledge to source, prepare and characterize them.
-
Be an experimentalist with track-record of designing and building super-resolution fluorescence microscopes from scratch (e.g. STED).
-
Expertise in 3D imaging with aberration correction.
-
Expertise in computational microscopy, image processing, error correction.
