Job Description

We are the world’s largest university press. We have both a worldwide reach and a personal understanding of local needs, partnering on the ground to adapt publications and resources to meet the individual needs of communities, societies, and countries. We partner with researchers, educators, and technology partners to stay ahead of the changing ways people around the world are accessing and sharing knowledge. With a presence in more than 50 countries and millions of customers around the world, an idea launched at OUP can have global impact.

Oxford Languages, a department of Oxford University Press, is the world’s leading dictionary publisher as well as being at the forefront of language technology innovations. Oxford Languages delivers a range of language data products and services in over 60 languages, including bespoke lexical datasets, self-service APIs, and our flagship Oxford English Dictionary (OED).

Our partnerships with leading academic institutions, enterprising start-ups, and technology giants have embedded this content at the cutting-edge of language research and global communications. Oxford Languages content powers education technology products, search engines, and “back-end” (non-display) purposes such as Natural Language Processing (NLP).

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Account Manager to join our team and focus on selling and licensing language data and services. As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities which result in successful, long-term customer relationships.

This role requires a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of intellectual property laws and licensing practices. You will support the delivery of Oxford Languages’ revenue goals and strategic objectives, as well as positioning Oxford Languages as a major player in the language data and services market.

Other duties of the role will include:

  • Sales - promoting Oxford Languages’ product and service offerings to potential customers globally, including to medium-to-large Enterprises
  • Strategy and Market Research - research and analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify target industries and potential licensees
  • Communication - communicate to Oxford Languages’ teams, including Product and Customer Success, on market intelligence and customer feedback to grow product strategy and development
  • Industry knowledge - maintain a demonstrably thorough knowledge of the language data industry, new technology advancements, and the products, markets, and trends
  • Operations - ensure compliance and due diligence checks are undertaken for potential customers

This is a fully remote opportunity.

ABOUT YOU

  • Track record of customer-facing relationship building and stakeholder management
  • Experience of establishing new commercially viable customer relationships and developing them
  • Demonstrable networking skills and ability to build and leverage a strong network of contacts
  • Track record of delivering on goals and targets
  • Experience working in IP rights licensing, SaaS, or technology company is desirable
  • Working experience and/or subject-matter-expertise in language services considered a plus

BENEFITS

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect to working patterns, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.
