We are looking for someone with relevant proven experience and skills and a passion to work in partnership with patients and carers to improve the quality of services. We'll need you to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to work creatively to find solutions and be an excellent communicator to engage a wide range of people.
In this role, you will lead on improving patient/carer experiences and involvement across mental health services for adults and older adult, with a focus in Oxfordshire bringing co-production to the forefront of everything we do.
The Trust wants to build on the experience and involvement work we are already doing to make the care we deliver more person centred and tailored to each person’s needs and wishes. You will work alongside patients, services users, carers, external organisations and staff to deliver the objectives of the experience and involvement strategy and the carers, friends and family strategy.
- Involving patients in planning and decisions related to their own care, as well as in the direction and planning of services, is an expectation of working within the trust and this role is a key element to developing confidence and skills for all staff in the Oxfordshire Mental Health services to achieve this aim.
- As well as working flexibly and dynamically with our services, staff and existing Experts by Experience to deliver changes to improve the patient and carer experience, you will support the recruitment, training and development of new patients, carers, service users who want to become EbE’s and grow the understanding and influence of co-production.
- An understanding of the pressures of NHS service delivery and the ability to empathise with people with lived experience of mental health illness is a must alongside a strong motivation to want to work collaboratively for improved healthcare for all. The post holder will actively listen to the experiences of EbE’s and staff to promote cooperative thinking and positively challenge ways of working.
- An ability to build strong, trusting relations, engage with people from all areas of life, make connections and sometimes think unconventionally will be required alongside the strategic and data analysis elements of the role.

The experience and involvement team works flexibly and enthusiastically across the trust, to ensure the voices of service users, patients and carers are heard and involved at all levels. This includes supporting teams to utilise the expertise of their own service users to support with service design, development and evaluation, running forums to give the opportunity for input into projects running across the trust and promoting the collection of feedback in its various forms and work collectively towards the trust wides aims of the experience and involvement strategy.
