Department Summary Treasury & Capital Management
The Treasury and Capital Management team contains four key areas:
TCM Reporting are responsible for the calculation and reporting of the Bank's internal and external capital and liquidity metrics; a range of statistical returns, as well as various internal Management Information packs.
Corporate Treasury are responsible for the management of the Bank's liquidity and the provision of funding to the Global Markets business.
TCM Control and Change assumes ownership of all capital and liquidity reporting systems with responsibility for change management, reconciliations and documentation of these systems.
TCM Policy and Business Liaison is responsible for liquidity and capital related regulatory policy adherence; the production of key annual regulatory documents and optimisation and business initiatives
Job Purpose
This role falls under the Finance graduate trainee programme and the Bank envisages that for the first 36 months of your employment (until graduation) you will participate in this scheme.
Under the scheme the role offers cross training and rotation opportunities across the different disciplines within the team as well as other Finance areas. Graduates are required to study towards and complete a relevant professional qualification (CIMA or ACCA) offered by the Bank.
Key Responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to support team managers by running reporting processes; generating internal and external reports as well as management information.
1) Assist in the timely and accurate completion and submission of internal and external management information and regulatory returns, including:
For the TCM Reporting rotation:
Capital calculations: Own Funds, Risk Weighted Assets, Large Exposures (LE) and Leverage Ratio (LR)
Liquidity calculations: Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), PRA110, Additional Liquidity Monitoring Metrics (ALMM), Net Stable Funding (NSF) and Internal Stress Test (IST)
Interest Rate in the Banking Book calculations: FSA017
ICBC HO calculations
Presenting reports to senior management as part of sign off process
Production of management reports to governance committees such as Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Board Risk Management Committee (BRMC)
Information for inclusion in Annual Financial Statements, Pillar 3 and ICAAP/ILAAP documents for the year-end reporting cycle
For the Corporate Treasury rotation:
Liquidity forecasts for LCR, IST and NSFR
Corporate Treasury Profit and Loss (P&L)
Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), including the cost reallocation process to distribute the cost of funding the Bank's liquid asset portfolio - Contingent Liability Charge (CLC)
Production of management reports to governance committees such as Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Board Risk Management Committee (BRMC)
2) Enhancement of current processes and controls (for both rotations):
Identify areas in current procedures which can be improved so as to provide time savings and / or an enhanced control environment.
Improvements may relate to spreadsheets and procedures or changes to calculation engines and reporting systems.
Assist in the subsequent implementation of the proposed changes.
Actively work to reduce the number of manual adjustments and work collaboratively with other teams to avoid duplication of work and bring about efficiencies
Support the reconciliation of capital and liquidity data to the general ledger as part of the month end process to validate regulatory returns

Degree educated with strong academic background
Previous experience working in Financial Services is desirable although not required
Basic financial instrument knowledge would be beneficial
Microsoft Office application knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) would be beneficial

Has difficulty working in a traditional hierarchy
Does not want to study for an accountancy qualification whilst working full time which requires dedication and good time management skills
