Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

Salary: £22,287 - £24,634 (point 19-23)

About the Role

Thrive Edinburgh is about thinking big and thinking differently. We should have big ambitions and long-term strategic aims when it comes to mental health. We have made it our goal to promote mental health and protect our citizens’ resiliency, self-esteem, family strength and joy and reduce the toll of mental illness on individuals, our communities and our city.

SAMH are recruiting a Welcome Team Practitioner to play a key role in our new Edinburgh Thrive South West Welcome teams; part of a multi-agency approach to support people with their mental health and/or wellbeing. You will assist and support people to establish and maintain meaningful and fulfilling links in the community and support them to find the right help when needed including social, therapeutic and medical interventions. You will also help to develop the Thrive service, as well as building effective partnerships with local groups and services and demonstrating the ‘Thrive’ approach to help people achieve their goals.

What we are looking for

We will expect you to establish strong and sustainable relationships in the community which will increase awareness and engagement of the project and promote building resilience to enable behaviour, culture and community change around stigma and discrimination.

To be successful in this post you will meet the essential criteria, core competencies behaviour and skills listed in the role profile and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering outcomes for vulnerable adults; and knowledge and experience of working in the field of mental health and wellbeing.
