The Vice-President External Engagement team (VPEE) coordinates UCL’s engagement with a range of external and internal audiences, raising the university’s profile and influence, and managing its reputation. They promote the public value of UCL’s research and education, both within the UK, and globally. It is a service-driven team of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.

About the role

We are recruiting for two Events Managers to join our fantastic Institutional Events team, one on a permanent basis and another on a 12 month MAT cover FTC.

The successful candidates will deliver institutional events from the planning stage, administration, through to delivering the event and supporting post-event evaluation.

The successful candidates will not only deliver a range of exciting events which professionally and creatively promote UCL to a range of audiences, but will also work with the Senior Events Managers to ensure events are aligned to strategic goals and tell the fantastic story of UCL.

Our audiences and events are hugely varied including current students at graduation, our staff at internal conferences, prospective students for our open days, general public, alumni, business leaders, political influencers in conferences, seminars and lectures, and other national and international stakeholders in our more bespoke event programmes.

All team members get involved in projects across the team, however each of our event managers leads on a particular portfolio of activity.

The permanent role will be our expert in delivering our in person and virtual open days, for both undergraduate and postgraduate prospective students. From live music, street food, faculty fairs to over a hundred different talks and taster sessions – our in person open days attract 10,000 people to campus and have such a wide variety of activity to coordinate.

The maternity cover will lead on creation and delivery of a bespoke high level events programme. This is a range of events that builds relationships across UCL to engage key audiences, creating high quality activity including dinners, tours, visits and lectures.

About you

To excel in this role, you must have experience of delivering a range of events, with the knowledge of how to deliver an excellent experience to attendees, manage stakeholders and build strong relationships.

You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, along with strong communications skills and excellent IT skills. You should have the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high standards, and will need to be able to work flexibly outside of core working hours (10am to 4pm), including attending evening and weekend events as needed.
