The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. GOS ICH’s activities include active engagement with children and families, to ensure that our work is relevant and appropriate to their needs. GOS ICH generates the funding for our research by setting out our proposals in high quality applications to public, charitable and industrial funding bodies and disseminates the results of our research by publication in the medical and scientific literature, to clinicians, policy makers and the wider public. About the role

Working closely with the project team, the post holder will be responsible for Design and implement data extraction pipelines for two main databases – one national and one international, to support analytics and data science workflows, automating and improving data extraction processes for regular activity and new research projects, setting up, implementing, and reporting on quality control, data completeness and validation checks, setting up and implementing a graphical interface for visual data exploration, liaising with data managers to support data cleaning and data validation processes, addressing and resolving data queries from internal and external collaborators and support colleagues with data access. Please check JD for detailed information. The salary range for this post is £40,524 - £47,478 per annum and this post is available for 18 months in the first instance.

About you

PhD or MSc in Computer Science / IT / Software Engineering / Information Systems / Maths / Technical Subject, previous experience in research, healthcare databases, national databases or registries or with large databases, have extensive technical experience of data management within clinical research, familiarity with health data in a research environment, have robust knowledge of data governance and all regulatory standards for clinical data management, have excellent programming skills e.g. Python / SQL • Experience in documenting code, version control and technical documentation (GitHub / GitLab), experience using cloud services and big data tools such as AWS, Azure, Hadoop, willingness to be innovative and forward thinking in their work and the development of new processes and be pro-active with a flexible approach to problem solving.
