Job Description
We require an experienced phlebotomist with excellent written and verbal communication skills to work alongside our phlebotomy service in Central London. The successful candidate will join a well-established phlebotomy service. This is a high performing and popular service that aims to deliver an excellent patient experience with world class care
The successful applicants will need to be competent in carrying out phlebotomy on adults, children, and elderly patients, and will be required to work under minimal supervision. The post holder will need to be well organised, efficient and familiar with all routine blood tests and their clinical importance.

To perform venepuncture and veneole (capillary sampling) blood collection procedures (the piercing/puncturing of veins or the slicing of veneoles, which are both invasive & clinical procedures). To extract blood samples from patients in a manner that makes the blood sample suitable/fit for analytical/therapeutic or diagnostic testing and purpose.
- To provide an inpatient, outpatient and GP venepuncture service within UCLH.
- To be responsible for taking blood samples in a safe and competent manner.
- To carry out all procedures safely and maintain high standards of care at all times.
- To ensure the correct labelling and dispatch of samples.
- To work on EPR or any relevant information system for the post, once trained.
- To participate in the provision of a Saturday and Sunday service, once deemed competent.
- To take blood from babies, children and adolescents. To specialize in very small and difficult veins.
- To be experienced a capable to draw blood from difficult areas, such as foot and wrist areas.
- To develop skills in teaching and the management of junior staff.
- To be responsible for children, vulnerable adults and their families, in your care.
