Job Description
SALARY: £66,861-74,290 per annum
LOCATION(S): Halifax Trinity Road
HOURS: Full-Time (35 hours)
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

Key Duties and responsibilities
To help us drive this transformation we're searching for engineers with a passion for making a difference. Someone who can translate business requirement in a technical solution that is elegant and complete.
Main tasks in your day-to-day job will include, but not be limited to:
  • Writing, maintaining and developing code in JavaScript (ES6), html 5 and CSS (SCSS) plus work with RESTful APIs, microservices and other modern web technologies.
  • You’ll work in a Feature Team, in a critical Lab within the Bank responsible for key high value technologies, to develop solutions that support a consistent approach for delivering our digital content strategy.
  • Working in an enduring close-knit team and collaborating with other teams and continuously improving the customer experience platform ensuring that the right solution is found.
  • Collaborating using Agile frameworks and methodologies, to optimise team development process and give rapid feedback working iteratively.
  • Participates in Communities of Practice, Guilds and improvement working groups and shares learning to members of their team and across the testing community
  • Has a continual learning mentality with desire for new skills. Keen to deepen their technical knowledge and understanding as well as develop, practice and demonstrate the workplace skills and behaviours required for this job role.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’re the sort of confident engineer we’re after - passionate about solving problems and finding innovative ways to improve the Bank’s digital footprint.
To be successful in this position, your application and interview should demonstrate the below essential technical skills:
Frontend engineering and related tools experience
  • Hands-on, commercial experience in Frontend coding particularly in JavaScript
  • Breadth of knowledge and experience in frontend-related technologies including progressive enhancement and able to speak authoritatively on these topics; and in-depth understanding of accessibility requirements and solutions, exposure to git & GitHub, some DevOps experience, Cloud, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams with a high level of experience of product evaluation.
  • Ability to identify appropriate use of technologies for a given requirement and to implement code without use of frameworks.
Cloud exposure
  • Cloud technologies and infrastructure are important including exposure to at least one of the 3 main cloud providers - ideally AWS or GCP.
SEO and Cyber Security experience
  • In depth working knowledge of accessibility as well as SEO and analytics.
  • Knowledge of cyber security, modern performance testing, functional and non-functional testing technologies.
