Your role at a glance

We have a great opportunity for a Product Owner to join us in Cardiff!

You’ll be joining one of the largest strategic programmes in L&G and the aim is to transform the servicing and administration platforms to support the growth of the Workplace business. The multi year programme is being delivered in an Agile delivery framework and will introduce new technology solutions and process automation to enhance the way we service our 5m customers.

As a Product Owner you’ll lead one of our scrum teams with responsibility for the delivery of technology and process transformation within the Workplace servicing teams, in line with the programme’s vision and roadmap. You’ll also be responsible for the delivery of the desired outcomes and benefits and will be fully empowered to lead the cross functional team, manage the team budget, own and prioritise the backlog and lead the team on a day to day basis.

What you'll be doing

Product Vision

  • Working with the business owner and the broader business, defining and communicating a clear product vision and delivery roadmap. Monitoring product performance against expectations, and using feedback and performance data to inform future goals. This vision could extend across all elements of service including all channels, technologies, journeys, people and process

Backlog management

  • Decomposing the vision into an actionable, refined and prioritised product backlog that ensures the scrum team have a constant flow of implementable work with clear value add to the proposition. Identifying and highlighting risks and issues, and being able to articulate the impact of these on the product or project delivery

Agile Leadership

  • Ensuring the scrum team understand the overall business goal and how their efforts contribute to achieving it. Setting achievable goals and being prepared to listen, negotiate, and compromise. Working with the scrum team to deliver key milestones, including managing and prioritising the sprint backlog to ensure work items delivered meet expectations. Leading and inspiring the Scrum team to instil quality, encourage innovation and reduce defects

Customer focus

  • Representing the needs of the customer to the internal technical and project teams, and being accountable for delivering proposition features and services that add value to the business and the customer
  • Being aware of and delivering benefits realisation, and overall customer satisfaction, and using this to influence change to ensure the needs of the customer are met

Stakeholder management

  • Building and maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships across the company. Working across teams in the business, and with external suppliers/contacts, facilitating internal engagement and communication throughout projects, and obtaining business sign off through demonstrations of work completed

Commercial Awareness

  • Actively seeking input from internal and external stakeholders and completing competitor analysis to keep abreast of industry and best practice. To make informed decisions about appropriate changes and new opportunities for products and services based on market intelligence, new technologies and internal collaboration
What we're looking for
  • You’ll come from a Product Owner background
  • You’ll also be well versed in Agile delivery at a large programme level and leading change
  • Experience of Process Re-Engineering
  • Industry experience in Workplace Pensions, Pensions generally or wider Financial Services
  • A strong customer focus and an ability to manage a constantly evolving product backlog
  • You’ll also be adept with JIRA & Confluence for project management and documentation
  • A good understanding of the technical aspects of Agile delivery such as continuous integration, non-functional requirements, Behaviour Driven, Test Driven development etc.
  • Any relevant certifications/qualifications are not necessary but would be great if you have them
