Advert Information Job Title: Security Guard Location: Stevenage Starting Salary: £21,189 with the opportunity to progress to £22,369 pa - Pay increase pending Hours: 56 per week Contract: Fixed Term 12 months Diversity: We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce Hertfordshire County Council are seeking a reliable and friendly Security Officer to join our dedicated and hard-working team at County Hall Hertford. We are a strong team of professionals, who care about the people with whom we work and are currently recruiting for a well-presented security professional to work at head office located in Hertford. This is a great opportunity to work as part of the site team in a welcoming and community environment, where the security staff are highly valued and appreciated. Key duties include manned guarding, access control and patrols. Undertake patrols and inspections in accordance with management instruction. Provide a security presence in the main reception, greet visitors and deal with any enquiries relating to ID and access. Work closely with other Security Officers to manage the security office including the issue of ID cards, access to keys, lost property, management of Name badges email inbox, etc. To be able to handle sensitive and confidential information and appropriately communicate with all staff, visitors, and service users. To cover reception duties through the day. Monitor and review CCTV when required. Regular patrols of the site and surrounding areas. Assist car parking attendant with regular patrols and traffic management as and when required. To provide cover for other roles within the facilities management team, including but not limited to, the reception, porterage... Additional Information Respond to and deal with all site emergencies. To provide the First Aid Emergency call out system for the campus. Adhere to all H&S policies and take responsibility for any H&S breaches noted in the course of duty. To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Security Supervisor or Building Services Manager as and when required. What challenges you could be faced with: You may face stressful and challenging situations on a daily basis, including dealing with emergencies, conflicts, and confrontations. You will be given the opportunities to develop yourself with the many training courses that HCC have to offer. Security Industry Authority Licensed (SIA). Ability to work alone, using own initiative. Flexibility to work beyond regular working hours as required. Ability to prioritise work accordingly. Ability to communicate to all levels within HCC both verbally and written. Ability to deliver excellent customer service. Proficient use of communications equipment.
